Abstract:

The use of hydrogen to decarbonize society is gaining momentum. A need exists to understand how to effectively utilize this fuel in key end use devices such as commercial and industrial appliances as well as gas turbines. Of critical importance in the decarbonization of end use sector operations is to ensure air pollutant emissions are simultaneously minimized. This presentation overviews critical factors regarding pollutant formation and emissions in the context of end use devices. It will frame this overview in the context of increasing hydrogen content in natural gas with current devices that have been developed for operation on natural gas. The discussion will include recent examples illustrating the use of hydrogen in representative devices.
